Columbia police asked residents to avoid the 1500 block of Parkade Boulevard Thursday evening during a standoff with a barricaded suspect.
Officers say 58-year-old Brian Strickland of Columbia was wanted for first-degree stalking when he barricaded himself inside a home around 3 p.m. Police say Strickland made suicidal and homicidal threats and was believed to be armed.
Crisis negotiators and SWAT responded and safely took Strickland into custody just before 7:45 p.m.
