Columbia Police say one person is in critical condition after a stabbing Friday afternoon.
Officers responded just after noon to the 1600 block of Richardson Street for a reported assault in progress.
Police say two men were involved in an altercation that ended with one being stabbed.
Officers detained a suspect at the scene and provided emergency medical care to the victim.
Forty-four-year-old Grant Buxton has been arrested and faces charges including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and felony drug possession.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Police say there is no ongoing threat, and the investigation continues.
