Monday Storms Cause Severe Damage Across Mid-Missouri

Severe storms tore through mid-Missouri Monday morning with winds Exceeding 80mph confirmed by the Nation Weather Service, prompting a state of emergency in Glasgow and widespread damage across multiple communities.

Glasgow Mayor Donald Clear issued the 72-hour emergency as crews respond to downed power lines, damaged buildings and a compromised water tower, with outages expected to last several days.
Residents are urged to conserve water and avoid marked hazards, while bottled water is available at City Hall.

Officials also reported flooding in Boone County and road closures in several counties, while some schools and organizations canceled classes or switched to remote learning because of the outages

In Middle Grove, a tree crashed into the local K-8 school, leaving holes in the roof, while nearby structures also lost roofing.
No injuries were reported.

And in Saline County, heavy damage along Highway 240 left Slater without power, canceled classes, and snapped dozens of utility poles as residents work together to clear debris.

In Randolph county The Moberly Correctional Center in Moberly, sustained damage in early-morning storms, according to a Missouri Department of Correction’s Facebook post.

No injuries have been reported and all residents and staff are safe. The facility is operational, with modified movement in place while the department continues to assess the damage, according to the post.
