McGirk Fire Destroys Two Vacant Buildings, No Injuries

Two abandoned structures were destroyed by fire Tuesday morning on Moniteau Street in McGirk, according to the California Fire Protection District.

Flames spread to a nearby home, but crews quickly contained the fire, preventing further damage.

No injuries were reported, and residents are able to remain in their home.

Officials say the cause is still under investigation but is believed to be electrical.

Fire Chief Shawn Merrill warns that heavy accumulation of materials can increase fire risk and urges property owners to take steps to reduce hazards.
