An Audrain County man is facing charges tied to a sexual assault reported years after it happened.
Investigators say 28-year-old Caleb Claggett of Mexico is accused of assaulting a child under the age of 12 multiple times in 2019.
The case came to light in February after Claggett reportedly disclosed the incident to a case worker.
Authorities interviewed the victim in March, and court documents say Claggett later admitted to the abuse during questioning in April.
He is now charged with first-degree sodomy involving a victim under 12 and is being held in the Audrain County Jail without bond.
He faces an initial hearing This morning at 10:00 in Audrain County Court.
