A Columbia man has been charged after he hit the median and blew his tire on Providence Road early Saturday morning.
Christopher Dimov was charged with DWI, Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless and Imprudent Manner, Deliver Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use Of Weapon – Possess Weapon And A Felony Controlled Substance, and Armed Criminal Action.
Court documents state that a deputy saw a speeding white BMW on Providence Road, at 1:06 a.m. Due to heavy fog, the deputy lost the vehicle, but later found the vehicle on the side of the road near Carrie Franke Drive.
The driver had hit the median, blowing out the driver’s side front wheel, and damaging the rim.
The deputy also reported the smell marijuana and saw a half-smoked blunt on the center console. Dimov then performed poorly on a sobriety test.
Documents state that a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Taurus 9mm, as well as 24 Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine pills and one alprazolam pill.
Inside a backpack, deputies said they found 49 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. They also found 56 grams of a white substance with “the consistency of parmesan cheese with random crystal pieces.”
That substance was sent off for testing.
