Audrain County Clerk Lisa Smith is looking to make a move. After eight years as County Clerk, Smith has announced her candidacy for Audrain County Treasurer.
Smith has had an extensive career in county government. “I have devoted my career in county government to serving the citizens of Audrain County with integrity, transparency, and accountability,” Smith stated. “As County Clerk, I have worked every day to ensure that my office operates efficiently and responsibly. I am ready to bring that same commitment to the Treasurer’s office.”
During her tenure as County Clerk, Smith has been the budget officer, preparing the county budget and manages it to ensure fiscal balance. She is responsible for preparing the annual financial statement, assisting in setting tax rates, and certifying railroad and utilities assessments to the State of Missouri.
Smith also serves as the Election Authority, implementing process improvements and maintaining accurate and transparent public records.
Her current job already requires a close relationship with the County Treasurer when it comes to expenditures and revenues within the County.
Smith says she loves working with numbers. “There is nothing more satisfying than when you can’t get something to balance and then finally it all comes together,” Smith remarked.
