Search efforts continue in the Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area for missing 16-year-old Kayla Huff, who was last seen around 10:20 Wednesday morning.
The search spans more than five square miles across Boone, Howard, and Randolph counties, with hundreds of volunteers assisting.
Kayla’s family says she is an outgoing teen who inspires others, and they’re grateful for the community’s support.
They’re also urging the public to rely only on information from family or law enforcement, warning against unverified social media posts.
Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old from Columbia in connection to her disappearance, though that person’s role remains unclear.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office says details are limited to protect the investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the Randolph County Sherrif’s Office.
