Fishermen on Perche Creek unknowingly discovered a body on Sunday. About 1:40pm, Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Perche Creek, near the Missouri River access, after fishermen reported a City of Columbia roll-cart trash can that was discovered in the creek, screwed shut.
Boone County firefighters also responded to the incident, providing a boat that officers used in the recovery effort. Upon opening the cart, they found a body that had been rolled up in a blanket and put in the trash can and then dumped in the creek.
The body was turned over to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation.
