A special prosecutor has declined to file charges against a Columbia Police Officer from a December incident in which the Officer shot a man that was allegedly trying to attack law enforcement with a knife.
Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger was named special prosecutor. The reported assailant, Marc Lucas from Elk Grove California, has since died from his injuries.
A recent statement from Shellabarger reads, “I have found that the shooting was justified and proper under Missouri law, and although tragic, will not result in any criminal charges or further proceedings,”
