Columbia Regional Airport Launches New Charlotte Route

Columbia Regional Airport is expanding its travel options with a new direct route to Charlotte officially taking off this week.

The first incoming flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport arrived Thursday night, with the first departing flight leaving Columbia Today.

Airport officials say the new route launched earlier than expected because of a schedule change by American Airlines.

Two more destinations are also coming soon, with Allegiant Air flights to Orlando-Sanford beginning June 3 and Destin starting June 5.

Airport leaders say the added routes will improve travel connections across mid-Missouri as the airport prepares for increased traffic with new parking, shuttle service and terminal upgrades planned this summer.
