Jefferson City Man Charged in Statutory Rape Case

A Jefferson City man is facing felony charges after investigators say he had sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl.

Court documents show 22-year-old Page McKinley Guss was charged Tuesday with second-degree statutory rape and pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Wednesday.

Authorities say the investigation began after the teen’s mother contacted police.

According to a probable cause statement, the mother told Guss her daughter was underage, but investigators say the relationship continued.

Guss reportedly told investigators the teen claimed she was 19.

He remains in the Cole County Jail without bond, with additional court hearings scheduled later this month and in June.
