Columbia Launches Affordable Youth Volleyball League

A new youth volleyball league in Columbia is working to make the sport more affordable and accessible for kids.

Elevate COMO Volleyball, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation, will launch the league June 3 for students in third through sixth grade.

Organizers say scholarships and city funding will help lower costs for families.

Co-founders Jason Herman and Jonah Lybeck-Brown say the goal is to create more opportunities for young athletes to get involved in sports earlier.

The league will also host a free public skills clinic on July 9.

Registration is now open online.
