Jefferson City Man Arrested After Shooting Girlfriend in Domestic Dispute

A Jefferson City man is behind bars after police say that he shot his girlfriend during a disagreement.

60-year-old Jerome Malone reportedly made a call to authorities himself saying that he shot his girlfriend following a fight. He said that she pushed him into a window where he hurt his hand, and as a result, he went into the other room to grab his gun and fired it at her.

Malone stated that both of them had been drinking and accusing the other of cheating.

The woman was taken to University Hospital for her injuries.

Malone has been charged with First Degree Domestic Assault, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use Of Weapon While Intoxicated, and Unlawful Possession Of A Firearm.

He is being held in the Cole County Jail without bond.
