Governor Parson Signs Restrictive Abortion Bill Into Law

A restrictive abortion bill is now signed into law by Missouri Governor Mike Parson.

The law will go into force August 28th and bans abortions on or beyond 8 weeks of pregnancy without exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

Doctors who violate the eight week cutoff could face five to fifteen years in prison.

A legal challenge is expected, although it is unknown when.

Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio and Georgia have approved bans on abortions once fetal cardiac activity can be detected which can occur in about the sixth week of pregnancy.
