Former JCCC Nurse Pleads Guilty to Romantic Relationship with Inmate

A former Jefferson City Correctional Center Nurse who was already in custody for murder has pleaded guilty to separate charges for having a romantic relationship with an inmate.

48-year-old Amy Murray pleaded guilty to Offender Abuse By a Department of Corrections Employee. She was sentenced to five years in prison, which is to run concurrently with her 12-year murder sentence.

Her murder charges stemmed from an investigation in which Murray was accused of killing her husband by making him drink antifreeze, and then setting the house on fire to try and cover it up. Murray entered an Alford plea to Second Degree Murder, Second Degree Arson, and Tampering with Physical Evidence In Felony Prosecution in 2025.
