Drivers in Cole County can once again use Missouri 179 over Rock Creek, as the bridge has reopened ahead of schedule.
The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that crews completed work to replace the bridge deck and reopened the roadway to all traffic.
Construction began in April after the bridge’s driving surface deteriorated and required replacement, though the supporting structure remained in good condition.
The project also included new concrete barriers and guardrails at all four corners of the bridge.
The bridge had originally been expected to reopen before the Fourth of July.
