A Marshall man has been sentenced to more than 22 years in federal prison after admitting to drug and firearms offenses and shooting two Pettis County deputies during a 2025 search warrant operation.
Sixty-three-year-old James Elsea received a total sentence of 265 months in prison after pleading guilty to methamphetamine trafficking, illegal firearm possession, and discharging a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.
Federal prosecutors say Elsea opened fire as deputies executed a no-knock warrant at his home, injuring two officers.
Investigators later found methamphetamine and multiple firearms inside the residence.
Elsea, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing guns.
He will also serve a term of supervised release following his prison sentence.
