Former Moberly Police Officer Found Guilty of Murder

A former Moberly officer was found guilty of murder in Randolph County Court today.

The judge found David Kip Heyde guilty of the murder of Bailey Scott on July 6th, 2025. Heyde argued that he acted out of self defense and that he feared for his life when he and Scott reportedly had an argument.

The state prosecutors called four witnesses: a Moberly Police corporal, the Randolph County Coroner, a Missouri State Highway Patrol Investigator, and a neighbor.

Heyde is due to be sentenced on August 1 at 1 p.m.
