Two Columbia Men Receive New Murder Charges From Grand Jury

A Boone County grand jury has indicted two Columbia men with new criminal charges, including murder, in connection to a 2024 incident in Columbia.

The grand jury indicted 22-year-old Byron Sampson and 19-year-old Julius Mosby on two counts of Second Degree Murder, as well as Armed Criminal Action, Tampering with Motor Vehicle, and First Degree Robbery.

Their charges are in connection to the death of 18-year-old Traquan Reed in 2024, where Reed was hit by car and found unconscious. He later died at hospital.

A third man, 23-year-old Demetrius Mays Jr. was charged with murder in the same case in 2024.

All three men are being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
