The Voluntary Action Center’s Opportunity Campus is now fully open in Columbia, offering year-round shelter and support for people experiencing homelessness.
Dozens checked into the new overnight shelter Monday, which can serve up to 150 people.
The campus also provides medical care, meals, showers, laundry, job and housing assistance, and other support services through partnerships with more than 30 nonprofits.
Executive Director Ed Stansberry says bringing those services together under one roof is a major step toward helping people find stable housing and long-term success.
