Three fire departments responded to a barn fire in rural Audrain County yesterday afternoon.
The fire happened in the 4900 block of Route Y near Clark shortly after 5 p.m. The building was reportedly home to a custom cabinet store. The structure was destroyed, but no one was hurt in the incident.
Little Dixie Fire Chief Jason Henry said that the fire began after a diesel motor in the barn exploded, and that a large amount of burnable material and lack of water sources made the fire difficult to put out.
Firefighters from Boone and Randolph Counties assisted in battling the fire.
