Cooper County Fair Without Rides

The Cooper County Fair is moving forward this week without carnival rides after its ride provider abruptly shut down just days before the event.

Fair officials say they also lost a $5,000 deposit paid to Amusement Associates, which cited soaring insurance and labor costs as the reason for closing.

While organizers couldn’t find a replacement in time, they say the rest of the fair will go on as planned, featuring livestock shows, contests, live music, food and family activities.

The fair runs through Saturday.
