Safety remains a top priority as day two of the MR340 gets underway today.
Hundreds of paddlers are making their way down the Missouri River in the world’s longest nonstop river race, with Jefferson City’s Carl R. Noren Access serving as the third checkpoint.
More than 650 racers launched from Kansas City on Tuesday, about 100 more than last year.
Organizers have safety boats positioned along the course, and racers are required to wear life jackets and carry emergency equipment as they race 340 miles to the finish in St. Charles.
