The Cardinals traded outfielder Lars Nootbaar to the Diamondbacks in exchange for two pitching prospects right-hander Daniel Eagen, left-hander Sandro Santana and a player to be named later.

23-year-old Daniel Eagen (RHP) is Arizona’s No. 5 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
The 2025 Diamondbacks Minor League Pitcher of the Year has struck out 109 batters in 87.1 innings at Double-A this season, showcasing high strikeout potential despite a 4.95 ERA.

21-year-old Sandro Santana (LHP) is a fast-rising reliever who owns a 2.14 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 46.1 innings across High-A and Double-A. Since his promotion to Double-A, he’s been dominant with a 0.57 ERA.

Arizona will also send an additional player to be named later to St. Louis as part of the deal.

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Yankees 13-7 in a wild, home-run-heavy slugfest at Yankee Stadium last night.
The Cardinals blew an early 6–0 lead after the Yankees rallied to take a 7–6 lead in the seventh, but St. Louis answered with a huge seven-run eighth inning.
Nathan Church, Jimmy Crooks, and Alec Burleson all homered in the frame, with Burleson hitting his third homer of the game.
Gordon Graceffo closed it out as the Cardinals won 13–7.
Burleson was the star, going 3-for-5 with three home runs and six RBIs.
