Mizzou to Cut “Stop Day” for Fall Semester 2026
The University of Missouri announced on Tuesday that the fall 2026 semester will not have a “Reading Day”, also commonly known as “Stop Day”.
People within the University decided to cut out Stop Day due to Veterans Day falling on a Wednesday combined with the fact that Governor Mike Kehoe signed a law last year making Veterans Day a paid holiday for UM System workers.
Having Veterans Day off means that the University had to find a new way to meet their required number of academic days for Monday/Wednesday/Friday sessions.
Stop Day is typically scheduled with the intent of students having an extra day to study for their final exams.
Finals week for the fall semester lasts Dec. 14-18. The change reportedly would not affect Stop Day in the spring semester.
