MoDOT Evaluating Roads for 75 MPH Speed Limit

A new Missouri law allowing rural highway speed limits to increase to 75 miles per hour takes effect August 28, but drivers won’t see immediate changes.
The Missouri Department of Transportation is evaluating eligible roads based on traffic levels, truck traffic, crash history, terrain and road design.
MoDOT Director Ed Hassinger says safety will be the top priority when deciding where speed limits can increase.
The agency hopes to complete its review by the end of the year.
The speed limit on Interstate 70 will not increase during the current Improve I-70 construction project.
