Montgomery County Man Receives 29 Felony Charges in Shooting
One man is in custody with 29 felony charges following a shots fired incident on Sunday in Montgomery County.
Keeland E. Sanders of New Florence was arrested in the incident. He reportedly told deputies that two victims entered his property and threatened him. Officers said that they saw him drinking, but he refused a breath test. The officers found no imminent threat. The victims who were shot at reportedly knew Sanders and verbally harassed him, prompting Sanders’ violent response.
A search of Sanders’ residence later revealed 10 firearms and a baggie containing a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl.
Several charges were filed against the suspect, including;
14 counts of Armed Criminal Action
11 counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Possessing a Weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance
Second-Degree Drug Trafficking
Unlawful Use of a Weapon – While Intoxicated – Loaded Weapon
Second-Degree Assault
First-Degree Domestic Assault
Sanders was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail without bond.
