Record Diesel Prices Hit Mid-Missouri Drivers

Record-high diesel prices are hitting truck drivers and workers across mid-Missouri.

AAA says the national average reached 5 dollars and 90 cents a gallon Monday, up from 3 dollars and 76 cents when the conflict with Iran began.

Drivers reporting say filling their rig now costs more than twice what it used to, with 142 gallons recently costing about 735 dollars.

Gas prices are also at record highs for Labor Day weekend, with the national average reaching 4 dollars and 15 cents.

Local workers say they’re driving less and raising prices to keep up with higher fuel and transportation costs.
