Columbia Standoff Ends in Arrest

A Columbia man is facing multiple charges following a three-and-a-half-hour standoff Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested 34-year-old Christopher Dow around 5 p.m. on charges including third-degree domestic assault, felony resisting arrest and first-degree making a terrorist threat.

Police say Dow refused to leave a home on Hidden Creek Court and threatened to harm officers and blow up the residence. Officers determined he was the only person inside.

Police used gas canisters and flash bangs during the standoff. Officers arrested Dow after an explosion was heard and smoke was seen in the area.

Dow is being held in the Boone County Jail without bond on the domestic assault charge.
