Luis García Jr. and Cody Bellinger gave New York an early lead, and Bellinger’s three-run homer capped a huge six-run sixth inning. Boston added two solo homers, but the Yankees cruised to the win.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Houston Astros 7-3, sweeping the American League Wild Card Series 2-0 and securing their first postseason series victory since 2005
after the white sox jumped out to an early 4–0 lead. Houston fought back with three solo homers, but Chase Meidroth’s three-run blast in the sixth put Chicago firmly in control. The White Sox bullpen shut the door, securing a historic playoff series win and advancing to the ALDS against Cleveland.
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in a 10-inning thriller. The dramatic victory tied the NL Wild Card Series 1-1, keeping the Phillies’ season alive and forcing a winner-take-all Game 3
Atlanta took a 3–1 lead in the seventh, but Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back homers to tie it. Alec Bohm’s 10th-inning solo shot put Philadelphia ahead, and Andrew Painter closed it out with a game-ending strikeout confirmed by an ABS challenge.
The San Diego Padres defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-1, completing a two-game sweep of the NL Wild Card Series. With the win, the Padres eliminate the Cubs and advance to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS
after the padres took an early 2–0 lead. Nico Hoerner’s RBI single briefly brought Chicago within one, but Gavin Sheets’ two-run homer in the fifth put San Diego back in control. The Padres’ pitching shut down the Cubs’ powerful offense to seal the win.
