Special Olympics Breaks Ground on Expansion

Special Olympics Missouri broke ground Wednesday on a major expansion to its Training for Life campus.

The new complex, called The Back Nine, will create more opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Plans include a pickleball court, softball and kickball field, the Law Enforcement Torch Run Plaza and a multi-use activity space.

The project is funded through $4.1 million in federal money, along with support from the Knights of Columbus and Miracle Baseball League.

Special Olympics Missouri expects construction to be completed by fall 2027
