Boone County WIC Services to Continue

Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will continue providing WIC services in the coming federal fiscal year after signing a new contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

WIC, or the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, provides eligible families with nutritious foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health care services.

The program serves pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children under the age of five who meet income guidelines and have a nutritional risk.

Eligible participants can use WIC cards to purchase approved foods at participating grocery stores and pharmacies.

In Boone County, WIC services are provided through the Public Health and Human Services clinic at 1005 West Worley Street in Columbia. Clinic hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For information about eligibility or how to apply, call Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services at 573-874-7384.
