Inmate to Be Sentenced in Guard Assault
A man who pleaded guilty to attacking a correctional officer at Jefferson City Correctional Center in 2022 will be sentenced in December.
Twenty-nine-year-old Gavin Syring pleaded guilty October first to first-degree assault and violence against a Department of Corrections employee. Court records show his sentencing is scheduled for December 15th at two p.m.
Syring is currently serving an 18-year sentence at Potosi Correctional Center.
The officer, Kent Riley, and his wife also filed a civil lawsuit against Syring and were awarded a two-million-dollar judgment in December 2022
