No explanation was given when the Missouri State Parks Director, Bill Bryan, was fired from his position, just 9 months short of retirement.
In an interview with the Springfield News Leader, Bryan said he recieved a call while on his way to meet the new director of the Department of Natural Resources when he got a call saying his services were no longer required on January 23.
Bryan was appointed in 2009 by former governor, Jay Nixon.
During his time as director, 7 new state parks were added to the system.
