Mexico Tree City

Mexico has been named a 2016 Tree City USA honoree by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of the community’s commitment to urban forest management.

In order to achieve the recognition, Mexico was required to meet 4 qualifications. There must be an established tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least 2 dollars per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Trees provide numerous benefits to a community including increasing property values and providing wildlife habitats.
