Construction Delays Discussed at Mexico School Board Meeting

Several delays is holding up completing renovation work at the Mexico Public Schools.

J.E. Dunn reported at last (Tuesday) nights Mexico School Board Meeting the supplier of the glass for the windows has had a delay in receiving materials.

Also the molds required to complete the tuck pointing at the high school are essentially dissolving, making them ineffective.

The completion for the tuck pointing has been pushed back to the end of this (September) or the beginning of next (October) month.

Sewer problems at Eugene Field are also causing a significant concern.

The contractors report the sewer pipes were not put in with enough of a slope to push waste into the existing system.

J.E. Dunn says they are accepting bids and seeking a solution with an engineer to find out the best way to move forward.

Custodian Richard Winn was recognized with a golden apple as part of his retirement from the high school.
