Audrain Sheriff Gets New K9

Audrain County Sheriff Matt Oller reports the department is getting a new K9 officer.

Oller, along with Major James Shrader, and Corporal Derek Chism are in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania to meet the new German Shepherd that has been named Chal.

The name was chosen in honor of former Audrain Sheriff, Chalmus Blum, who was killed in the line of duty in 1924.

Chal and his handler, Cpl. Chism, will begin training at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office K9 training unit in Mid-January.
