MSHP To Stop Field Testing Drugs

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will no longer be field testing drugs.

An increase of Fentanyl, a potentially lethal drug, has led to the patrol sending all drugs to a controlled lab. All drugs, even marijuana, could easily be laced with Fentanyl.  An amount, about the size of a pinch of salt can be fatal to officers and K-9 officers.

Fentanyl is up to 50 times stronger than heroin, and is a leading factor in the opioid epidemic.
