Students Evacuated Due to Short In Fire Alarm

A short in a fire alarm at Mexico Middle School caused staff to evacuate students.

At around 11:15, the alarm sounded, and it was announced it was not a drill.

After the students evacuated the building and were all accounted for, the students moved to the track, and were preparing to move the YMCA for shelter.

Mexico Public Safety arrived quickly, and with the help of Mexico Public School’s Maintenance Department, determined the alarm was caused by a short.

Once the “all clear” was given students were moved back to their classrooms.
