Four retirees from the Mexico School Disteict were honored at last night’s School Board meeting.
Keith Louder worked for the district for 31 years. He coached multiple sports including baseball and softball.
Michelle Whanger worked at Eugene Field for 22 years, and was given the Educator of the Year award by the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
Mary Beardslee began her career as a teachers aide in 1996, before becoming the Title I teacher in 2001 at Eugene Field.
Julie Robinson worked at Eugene Field for 15 years.
Members of FFA presented to the board their progress throughout the year, and discussed the success of the school farm near Lakeview.
Lastly, the board entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Arthur Center to begin a pilot program to provide dental care for students who may not otherwise have access to it. In its first year, the program will focus on second grade students in all the schools.
