The Mexico High School volleyball team had a successful senior night with a three set sweep over Brookfield at the Mexico High School Sports Complex on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

The Lady Bulldogs won the first set 25-16, the second set 25-15 and the third set 25-16.

The Mexico seniors honored were Addison Paden, Emily Moppin, Skyler Arnold, Sherlyn Mena Lopez and Zoey Schutte.

Ava Herron had five aces.

Emily Moppin chipped in three aces.

Jaclyn Cline recorded 10 kills, Emily Moppin had five kills.

Mexico picked up their 11th win of the year.

Mexico will play their regular season finale against Marshall on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

The Mexico High School girls tennis team traveled to Palmyra for a district match up on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

The Lady Bulldogs came up just short with a 5-4 loss.

Lucy Gleeson, Claire Hudson, and Yolitza Rodriguez-Rios picked singles victories for Mexico.

It was the team of Yolitza Rodriguez-Rios and Melanie Hernandez-Jarquin picking a doubles victory for Mexico.

Head coach Kim Costley says “I was proud of the girls as they came to play and battled throughout every match.

I believe this is the closest match we have ever had with Palmyra.

The scores were very close and the games could have gone either way.

We had a lot of tight matches and won 2 out of the 3 tiebreakers.

This groups has grown tremendously and the seniors will be missed.

We wish them all the best.

The St. Louis Blues dropped their home opener to the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 Mathieu Joseph scored the lone goal for the Blues.

Three St. Louis Cardinals and four Kansas City Royals have been named 2024 Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

For St. Louis third baseman Nolan Arenado, shortstop Mason Winn, and utility player Brendan Donovan were named to the list.

Royals pitchers Seth Lugo, Cole Ragans, catcher Freddy Fermin, and shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. are among the finalists for the award.

Both leagues have three finalists in each position.

The winners are set to be unveiled on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight on November 3rd at 8:30pm.
