The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were on Highway 15, just south of Paris, for a pig wandering down the road at around 10:30 this morning. [Wednesday]
Monroe Sheriff David Hoffman said when they arrived the pig was very overheated. Officers gave her water in a bucket and from a water bottle. After they got her cooled down, she managed to escape the harness and walk further down the road.
It appears she fell off a truck or trailer, and sustained serious road rash, but was otherwise uninjured.
Sheriff Hoffman says she was picked up by a farmer from Audrain County. Her owner has not been found.
