NTSB Releases Preliminary Report On Duck Boat Sinking

A preliminary report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board revealed few new details about the sinking of a Duck Boat on Table Rock Lake in Branson on July 19.

According to the report, federal officials are continuing to review cell phones, a camera and attempting to access the data on the hard drive of a recording device found with the boat.

The NTSB says nearby weather stations recorded wind gusts of up to 70 miles an hour around the time of the incident.

The NTSB has investigated other Duck Boat incidents, including one in 1999. The NTSB issued safety recommendations to the Coast Guard, states, manufacturers operators and service providers citing vehicle maintenance, Coast Guard inspections, reserve buoyancy, and survivability.
