No Explosives Found On Hannibal Bridge

No explosives were found on the Mark Twain Memorial Bridge after the Marion County 911 Center received a call of a possible bomb on the bridge last night. [Thursday]

Dispatchers received the call at 8:45, and 9:00 the bridge was closed, and all river and rail traffic was also halted.


The Missouri State Highway Patrol searched under the bridge using the walkway, and the Illinois State Police brought in their bomb squad and searched the deck and top of the bridge.

The bridge was re-opened at around midnight.
