United States Senator Claire McCaskill is commending Missouri Governor Mike Parson on his decision to include the expansion of drug courts in the state in the special session that began today. [Monday]
In a statement, McCaskill said “I commend the Governor and all those in the legislature pushing to get this effort across the finish line to make drug courts more accessible to those who need them most throughout Missouri.”
McCaskill created one of the first drug courts in the country while service as Jackson County Prosecutor.
Drug courts have shown success in providing treatment rather than incarceration for people in recovery from addiction facing non-violent drug offenses.
