Woman Charged In Death Of Darnell Gray Makes first Court Appearance

A woman accused of causing the injuries that led the death of 4 year old Darnell Gray in Jefferson City made her first court appearance this morning [Wednesday] in Cole County.

Twenty six year old Quatavia Givens asked for a public defender and a bond study to be conducted.

She did not enter a plea for the one count of abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death. The charge carries a sentence of up to life in prison.

Givens has been held in the Cole County Jail since October 31.

Darnell Gray’s body was found on October 30 after a 6 day search.
