Captain Of Fatal Duck Boat Capsize Indicted

The captain of the duck boat that sank in Table Rock Lake in Branson last summer resulting in the deaths of 17 people was indicted by a grand jury today [Thursday] with 17 counts of misconduct, negligence, or inattention to duty by a ship’s officer resulting in death.

U.S. Attorney Tim Garrison alleges 51 year old Kenneth Scott McKee of Verona failed to properly assess incoming weather prior to entering the water.

The indictment further alleges McKee failed to instruct passengers to put on flotation devices when the severe weather reached their location. He also failed to increase speed and head to he nearest shore, and either caused or allowed the plastic side curtains to be lowered, creating a barrier over the vessels exits in case they needed to abandon ship.
