Mexico Man Arrested In Traffic Stop Identified

A Mexico man is being identified as the person arrested for meth and a stolen firearm yesterday (Thursday) afternoon during a traffic stop by the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies say they stopped 28 year old Marcus Turpin for a lane violation in Mexico on East Liberty Street near Agriculture in Mexico yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

Audrain County Sheriff Matt Oller says the circumstances of the traffic stop led the deputy to call in assistance from the K9 unit.

K9 officer Chal indicated there were narcotics in the vehicle.

A search revealed a distributable amount of methamphetamine, ammunition and a handgun reported stolen to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office in the last 3 months.

Deputies say Turpin was also found to be in possession of fighting knuckles.

He was taken to the Audrain County Jail, on multiple charges.
