New Interim Columbia Police Chief Named
Columbia Interim City Manager John Glascock announced in a press conference today [Tuesday] that Lieutenant Geoff Jones will serve as Columbia Police Interim Chief beginning February 3.
Jones was raised in Columbia and attended Columbia Public Schools.
He earned a bachelors degree from Central Missouri State University in criminal justice with a minor in industrial safety in 1997 and a masters degree in criminal justice and sociology from Lincoln University in 2012.
He worked as a police officer in Sedalia for a year before joining the Columbia Police Department in 1998.
A permanent police chief will be hired when a city manager is selected.
